Tips:
We further recommend that (if possible) an e-scooter is connected to the charger at least once every 30 days during long periods of inactivity.
1. Always use the correct charger
Saving money; who doesn’t want that? However, when it comes to chargers, this is not the wisest choice. Cheap can quickly become expensive if you go for the cheapest option.
An unofficial or replica charger can damage the battery, for example by overcharging or undercharging it. So don’t skimp on a charger to avoid having to invest in a (costly) new battery in the long term.
2. Connect your e-scooter to the charger before the battery is completely empty
Our e-scooters are equipped with a Lithium-ion battery. A characteristic of this type of battery is that it can be discharged and charged many times without losing capacity.
For a long battery life, it is advisable to connect the battery to the charger as often as possible after use, rather than letting it run completely empty. Try to keep the battery always above 10% (ideally above 40%). So remember the range of your e-scooter before going on a long ride.
3. Do not charge your e-scooter longer than necessary
Regularly charging your e-scooter promotes the battery’s lifespan. However, take into account the charging time indicated by the manufacturer. Exceeding the charging time can result in the battery overheating.
If the charging time is much longer than stated in the supplied booklet, this may be a sign that the battery has reached the end of its life. In this case, you can contact us or order a new charger directly from our webshop.
4. Charge the battery before storing your e-scooter
It may not seem logical to charge your electric scooter before putting it away for a long time. However, this actually benefits the battery of your scooter.
Make sure the battery is at least 50% charged before storing it. Manufacturers also recommend that (if possible) an e-scooter is connected to the charger at least once every 30 days during long periods of inactivity.
5. Avoid storing under extreme temperatures
Have you ever had problems with your phone’s battery when it was very cold or hot outside? Like a phone, an electric scooter does not like to be exposed to extreme temperatures.
Although a Lithium-ion battery is quite resilient, it does not respond well to extreme heat or cold. High or low temperatures strain the battery and cause it not to charge efficiently or hold a charge. Over a long period, this can cause damage to the battery.
E-scooters are not legal for use on public roads. You may only use the road when the scooter is designated as a special moped by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and the RDW.
