Does your laptop, tablet or other USB-C device lack a network connection and are you also short of USB ports? With the DrPhone EA3 USB-C Ethernet Adapter you add a Gigabit RJ45 network connection and 3 USB 3.0 ports directly via one USB-C port. This way you combine a stable wired internet connection with extra connections for example for a mouse, keyboard, USB stick, webcam or other USB accessories.
The EA3 supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet and offers a theoretical data transfer of up to 5 Gbps via the three USB 3.0 ports. In addition, the network adapter features advanced network functions such as Wake on LAN, Jumbo Frames, IEEE 802.1Q VLAN Tagging, Auto MDIX, Checksum Offload and Large Send Offload.
Gigabit Ethernet via USB-C
More and more slim laptops and tablets are supplied without a built-in RJ45 network port. When you still want to use a wired network, the DrPhone EA3 offers a practical solution.
Connect the adapter to a suitable USB-C port and then connect a network cable to the RJ45 port. The adapter supports:
- 10 Mbps Ethernet
- 100 Mbps Fast Ethernet
- 1000 Mbps Gigabit Ethernet
The network adapter adapts to the available network speed and supports the standards IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u and IEEE 802.3ab.
A wired ethernet connection can also be a practical choice in locations where wifi is unstable, busy or insufficiently available.
3 extra USB 3.0 ports
Besides Gigabit Ethernet, the EA3 functions as a compact USB-C hub with three USB-A 3.0 ports.
You can connect for example:
- USB stick
- External storage
- Mouse
- Keyboard
- Webcam
- USB headset
- USB speakers
- Other compatible USB-A peripherals
USB 3.0 supports a theoretical data transfer of up to 5 Gbps, making the ports suitable for both daily accessories and data transfer.
Wake on LAN support
The DrPhone EA3 supports Wake on LAN (WOL). This allows a compatible computer to be activated via the network, provided the computer, operating system, network configuration and hardware used also support this functionality.
This makes the adapter interesting for among others business workplaces, home networks and other situations where devices are managed remotely via the network.
Support for Jumbo Frames
The network adapter supports Jumbo Frames. This allows larger ethernet frames to be used within network configurations that are set up for this.
Actual use of Jumbo Frames requires that other network equipment and configuration also support this feature.
IEEE 802.1Q VLAN Tagging
For more extensive network configurations, the EA3 supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN Tagging.
This allows the adapter to be used within networks where VLANs are applied to logically segment network traffic. This can be relevant for example within business networks, managed home networks and test environments.
Checksum Offload
The EA3 supports Checksum Offload for:
This means certain checks during network traffic processing can be handled by the network adapter instead of fully by the processor of the connected system.
Large Send Offload
Also Large Send Offload (LSO) is supported. This feature is designed to handle processing of larger amounts of TCP network data more efficiently when the connected system and software configuration support this.
Auto MDIX
Thanks to Auto MDIX the network adapter can automatically detect and correct the ethernet connection used. This means no separate crossover cable is needed in supported network configurations.
Full Duplex and Half Duplex
The DrPhone EA3 supports both Full Duplex and Half Duplex.
With Full Duplex data can be sent and received simultaneously. The actual network mode used is partly determined by the connected network equipment and network configuration.
Compact aluminium housing
The EA3 has a compact aluminium housing with a silver finish. This makes the adapter easy to carry and suitable for a fixed workplace, home office or mobile use with a laptop.
Because ethernet and three USB ports are combined in one adapter, you also don’t have to carry a separate adapter for each function.
Suitable for various USB-C devices
The DrPhone EA3 is designed for devices with a suitable USB-C connection and can be used among others with compatible:
- Laptops
- MacBooks
- Tablets
- Chromebooks
- Smartphones
- Desktop computers with USB-C
This can include devices from product series of among others Apple, Dell, Microsoft Surface, Lenovo, ASUS, Samsung and Google.
Note: a USB-C connector does not automatically mean every USB-C device supports every USB function. Actual operation depends on USB-C functionality, operating system, available drivers and support of the connected device.
Supported operating systems
The adapter is suitable for among others:
- Windows 11
- Windows 10
- Windows 8.1
- Windows 8
- Windows 7
- Windows XP
- Windows Vista
- Mac OS
Availability of specific network functions, settings and drivers may vary per operating system.

Easy connection
- Connect the USB-C connector of the DrPhone EA3 to your compatible device.
- Connect a network cable to the RJ45 port when you want to use a wired network connection.
- If desired, connect USB-A accessories to one of the three USB 3.0 ports.
- Configure additional network functions such as VLAN, Wake on LAN or Jumbo Frames if these are supported within your system and network.
Important when using
Check before use whether the connected device and operating system support the desired functions. Functions such as Wake on LAN, VLAN Tagging and Jumbo Frames require not only support from the adapter, but may also depend on the computer, drivers, router, switch and other network configuration.
When connecting or disconnecting, always hold the connector itself. Do not pull directly on the cable.
Why choose the DrPhone EA3?
With one compact adapter you add Gigabit Ethernet and three USB 3.0 ports to a suitable USB-C device.
